Breaking Free from Labels: Embracing Your Unique Identity

I am someone who has been labeled with multiple disabilities and mental health conditions, including dyslexia, depression, multiple personality disorder, and borderline schizophrenia. However, I do not let these labels define me, nor do I claim them as who I am. Instead, I acknowledge them as traits that I exhibit when I am upset.

Before finding ways to live with these labels, my life was a mess. I was focused on the negative and had a poor me attitude that was getting me nowhere. However, once I made the decision to be a hustler and chase my dreams, I was able to attract money into my life and succeed in various endeavors.

I also found that turning to Jesus was instrumental in healing my mind from depression and other negative traits. By listening and waiting for His guidance, I was able to overcome my disabilities and become a living witness of God's healing power.

I hope that if you are struggling with negative labels or disabilities, you can find ways to let them go and show the world that by the grace of God, you have the ability to walk out of boxes and create one that fits exactly who you are.

Growing up, I often felt like I was at a disadvantage compared to my peers. I struggled with dyslexia and wasn't diagnosed until I was almost 30 years old. I was placed in special education classes, and I didn't understand why I was struggling so much with reading and writing. I would often get frustrated with myself and feel like a failure. But looking back, I realize that my struggles with dyslexia actually taught me some valuable life skills. I learned how to think creatively and outside the box, and I developed a strong work ethic from constantly having to put in extra effort to keep up with my classmates.

Similarly, my diagnoses of depression, multiple personality disorder, and borderline schizophrenia were once a source of shame and frustration for me. I felt like I was broken and defective, and I often blamed myself for my mental health struggles. But over time, I've learned that these labels don't define me. Yes, I still have moments of depression, and I still have to work hard to manage my emotions and thoughts. But I've also learned how to cope with my symptoms and find ways to live a fulfilling life despite my challenges.

One of the things that has helped me the most is developing a strong sense of purpose and passion. I've always been a hustler at heart, and I've found that focusing on my entrepreneurial goals has helped me stay motivated and focused. I started my own business a few years ago, and it's been an incredible journey. Yes, there have been plenty of setbacks and challenges along the way, but I've learned to embrace the process and keep pushing forward. I've also found that surrounding myself with positive, supportive people has been instrumental in my success. I have a close-knit group of friends and family who are always there to cheer me on and offer encouragement when I'm feeling down.

I've also learned the importance of self-care and self-compassion. When I'm feeling overwhelmed or stressed, I take time to do things that bring me joy and help me relax, like going for a walk in nature or listening to music. I've also learned to be more forgiving of myself and to treat myself with kindness and compassion, rather than beating myself up when things don't go as planned.

Ultimately, what I've learned is that we don't have to be defined by our weaknesses or the negative labels that others may put on us. We all have strengths and talents, and it's up to us to find ways to use them to our advantage. By embracing our unique qualities and focusing on our passions and purpose, we can overcome our challenges and live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

Tip to help you

  1. If you are struggling with negative labels or weaknesses that are hindering your success, there are several tips and resources that can help you overcome them.

  2. Seek help and support: Don't be afraid to seek help from professionals or support groups. There are many resources available to help people struggling with mental health issues or learning disabilities. Reach out to a therapist or counselor who can help you work through your challenges and develop coping strategies.

  3. Find your passion and purpose: Focus on what you love to do and what brings you joy. When you are passionate about something, you are more likely to put in the effort to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. Take the time to explore your interests and talents, and find ways to incorporate them into your daily life.

  4. Practice self-care: Take care of your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. This means getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and taking time for relaxation and self-reflection. Find activities that help you de-stress and recharge, whether it's reading, meditating, or spending time in nature.

  5. Embrace a positive mindset: Focus on the positive aspects of your life and your strengths, rather than your weaknesses or challenges. Use affirmations and positive self-talk to build your confidence and overcome negative thoughts.

  6. Utilize assistive technology: If you have a learning disability or struggle with certain tasks, there are many assistive technologies available that can help. For example, text-to-speech software can read text out loud, making it easier for people with dyslexia to understand written content. Similarly, speech-to-text software can be helpful for people who have difficulty with writing.

Remember that you are not defined by your weaknesses or negative labels. With the right mindset, support, and resources, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve your goals. Don't be afraid to reach out for help, and always believe in yourself and your abilities.
